Kevin Wallace25 March 2026I had to find an experienced Sports Law legal representative to help me with a terrible situation I found myself in. After many initial contacts with other firms, I had received a very warm and understanding reply from Richard Roberts of Cromwell Wilkes and the Sports Law Team. I immediately felt more comfortable and confident that these guys would look after my best interests. I opted for a face to face initial meeting to explain the situation and decided that I had made the right choice, as Richard Roberts and his team took great care in extracting relevant information and I felt that they were already battling on my behalf, despite not even leaving the offices! I faced a serious situation with the National Governing Body of my sport, which if I’m honest would have ended my career in sport and coaching. Richard unraveled everything and saw a number of flaws in the NGB and played a chess like strategy to turn around a sanction that had been imposed, and essentially saved my life. Richard proposed a pathway that filled the NGB with confidence and proved the previous sanctions were wrong. The team got the sanctions lifted and also managed to get me a number of aftercare support sessions from the NGB as it had taken an extreme toll on my mental health. Throughout, the Sports Law Team, especially Richard Roberts, who in my opinion is an amazing lawyer, treated me with respect, care and humility, with tonnes of patience, saw me as a human being needing help rather than just a customer. His attention to detail and background work is an amazing forensic advocate, surprised me no end and is I’m sure one of the reasons we won our case! Cyril Turi10 March 2024My mother had a sudden spinal stroke which led to quadriplegia whilst on a visit to the UK from Nigeria. The complexity of the case and the fact that all family members reside in the UK led to seeking representation from Cromwell Wilkes. At the time, I had no idea what could be done. However, during my first meeting with Richard, he explored potential options with reference to pros and cons whilst being very empathetic. Clarity on process and the compassion shown were the clincher. Whilst we encountered several setbacks and the process in itself was quite lengthy from application to decision, Richard and Jessica were always there to reassure us, and often went above and beyond, in supporting us as a family with issues not aligned to the application. Neil A21 April 2023This is the only law firm that you need for all your Immigration and Human Right’s needs. My wife and I spoke to several firms before making the decision to hire Cromwell Wilkes. We absolutely made the right decision. From the very beginning after accepting the case, Justin totally reassured my wife and I that we were in good hands. The possibility of my wife needing to leave the UK without me was simply devastating. Justin promptly responding to all of our emails quickly, whilst they were preparing the case. We knew that in the first instance that the case would be rejected by the Home Office, due to my wife and I not meeting the required criteria. However, we also knew that having the team at Cromwell Wilkes by our side, that we succeed at appeal due to the uniqueness of our case. Justin continuously reassured us, and we are so very grateful for that. Justin then passed our case to Jessica, who he reported to, as our case was prepared for our appeal. Before I write about how wonderful Jessica was during this whole process, I would like to highlight one point. As we sat in front of the judge alongside Richard (the Partner of the firm), the judge asked Richard who had prepared the Dossier for the case. He responded that it was Jessica. The judge asked Richard to ensure that Jessica knew that this case was SO well prepared and presented. She said that rarely is praise given. In this instance it is important as she was so very impressed by the level of detail, structured and methodical and asked Richard to ensure that Jessica is aware of that. From our first email-video call with Jessica, we knew that she is incredibly competent and a genuinely nice person. That is important in a stressful situation as my wife, and I were in. Like Justin, Jessica always responded to our emails very quickly and thoughtfully, presenting the facts but also in a thoughtful manner. Jessica is absolutely the person that you want on your side in matters like this. Moving onto Richard, who my wife and I met before we entered the Court as he was representing us. First things first, you absolutely want Richard on your side in a Courtroom and NOT against you. Due to the incredible work that both Justin and Jessica had done up to that point, my wife and I were incredibly confident. However, with such serious consequences, there is also that tiny doubt in the back of your mind. On speaking to Richard on the phone whilst we were waiting for him to arrive at the court, Richard totally removed that tiny doubt in my mind. In court there is only one word to describe Richard and that is impressive. He clearly as you would expect knows the law inside and out, but he also has first class communication skills. Judges are indeed human with different personalities and Richard knows how to appeal to each. You immediately feel 100% confident listening to Richard speak in Court, that you will win the case. The judge was clearly impressed with Richard, and we won the appeal. Many of you as my wife and I were, will be feeling incredibly stressed and emotional, in situations of Immigration and Human Rights. Having the team at Cromwell Wilkes on your side, you will feel confident and reassured. My wife and I cannot thank the team at Cromwell Wilkes enough. They gave us sound advice and submitted a brand new application for us they were efficient, highly professional, our case went for appeal hearing in december and i have to mention even though Richard was unwell he showed up early at the court preparing me and my brother for the hearing at the tribunal he managed to stay all day through the hearing it was so professional gave us and the judge brilliant arguments. I tried to email/call the firm many times over the course of 2020 without any success. It was actually pretty bizarre as we were under the impression that we had a good relationship. I would not recommend Cromwell Wilkes as the mark of a good advisor is one that provides on going support and does not just completely ignore their clients once full payment has been received. But this law firm hands down is the best by far and I am certain all these reviews are true. The director Richard is probably the best barrister by far. I am not that type of person that would go around and give out reviews simply because I don't have the time. But Cromwell excellence and outstanding performance has forced me to make a Google account , sign in and write this review. Whilst my case was being delt with I called Mr Richard to take my money but he insisted he won't charge me until he gets a response from the home office first which shows this firm is not after your money so any money they charge eyes closed I would pay them. This is my first and only review I have ever given to anyone. By the way it took me 2 years to write this review because my case was dealt with more than 2 years ago but finally I have managed to write a review.
