Age requirement

Both applicants must be over 18 years old.

Intent to marry or civil partnership

Must demonstrate an intention to marry within 6 months of UK entry.

Partner's status

The UK partner must be a British citizen, Irish citizen, or have settled status (ILR, EU settled status, Turkish businessperson visa). Refugees or humanitarian protection holders can also sponsor.

Financial requirement

Combined gross income minimum of £29,000 annually. Income sources include employment, savings, or pension. Savings of £88,500 or more eliminate additional income requirements.

Accommodation requirement

Appropriate UK accommodation meeting space standards is required.

English language requirement

Sufficient English proficiency is required, proven via a CEFR Level A1 test or an English-taught degree or qualification.

Genuine relationship requirement

Must demonstrate relationship authenticity through letters from friends and family, photographs, correspondence, messages, and meeting evidence.

English language test

CEFR Level A1 (speaking and listening) from an approved provider.

Degree-level qualification

An academic qualification taught in English.

Exemptions

Applicants over 65, those with physical or mental conditions, or nationals of English-primary countries (US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand).
